June is National Safety Month.  It had us thinking about our laundry practices at home.

We’ve talked extensively about never leaving an appliance on when you leave your home and the danger of your dryer catching on fire, but here are tips regarding your laundry detergent and your laundry routine at home:

If you are using a product for the first time, be sure to read the label carefully.

♥ Don’t let children handle these products.  Store them high where they cannot be reached.

♥ Always keep the containers of your laundry products closed and dry.

♥ Keep your laundry products in their original container with intact labels.

♥ If you are using single load laundry packets, be careful not to puncture or pull the packets apart.  The packets can quickly disolve upon contact with water, wet hands or saliva.

If you think a child has been exposed to laundry detergents, call your local poison center at 1-800-222-1222 immediately.
