How We Make Your Wedding Gown Last a Lifetime

As a bride to be or a new bride, your wedding gown may be one of your most precious possessions.  It is a symbol of an important event in your life and it should be treated with care.

Our staff is expertly trained to clean and preserve your gown whether the gown is made of satin, taffeta, chiffon, organza, brocade, or lace and accented with delicate trims, such as beads, crystals, sequins, embroidery, and appliques.

First we inspect the gown’s fabric carefully.

We use gloves to prevent the transfer of oils from our hands to the gown.  We pay attention to beading and sequins to make sure they are not discolored or distorted.  We make sure the appliques are secure and there are no loose threads.  We look for yarn slippage, fraying, and snags along fabric edges, tight fitting areas, and in lace materials.

Secondly we look for stains and consult with you.

We’ll ask you about any possible stains on the gown that we might not be able to see such as clear food and beverage stains.  We’ll look at areas that may have come in contact with body oils, make-up, and perfumes such as neckline, underarms and the bodice lining.  The longer these sit, the harder it will be to safely remove so it’s best that we address them as soon after the big day as possible.  We can use an ultraviolet light to help us detect stains that might not be visible in normal light.  All stains will be pointed out to you and marked for our cleaning experts.

Third, we’ll consult the care label for specific cleaning instructions.

The Federal Trade Commission’s Care Label Rule requires that any care instructions attached to the gown be accurate for all parts of the gown, including decorative trim, beads, and sequins.  We’ll look together and discuss how the manufacturer is recommending we clean the gown.  We’ll do our absolute best to adhere to the instructions and will complete a test on a small, hidden area prior to cleaning.

Lastly, we’ll preserve the gown for you.

We have over 30 years in the business of cleaning and preserving wedding gowns.  We are the only Dry Cleaner in the Central Indiana area who are members of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists and who offer MuseumCare™ preservation which offers 100% Guarantee against sugar stains and yellowing.  This video details the special care we take in cleaning and preserving your gown.
