“Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd…”!

If you’ve been humming this lately while spending time at the ball fields this summer, you may be humming a different tune while trying to get the grass stains out of your youngster’s pants.

Most grass stains can be removed by simply washing the item according to the care instructions ASAP while the stain is fresh.  But, if it’s set a bit or is really ground in, it might take some effort.  With the right chemicals and techniques, you can get the stains out.

Our stain removal experts suggest you try the following to remove the grass stains:

•Mix a Tannin solution of 1/2 teaspoon liquid laundry detergent with 1/4 cup each of white vinegar and cool water.
•Soak your item in the tannin solution and water.   The detergent will help suspend the stain from the fabric and the vinegar will help lift the stain from the fabric.
•Working on an overturned plate, use a tamping brush to work the stain out.
•Follow the above steps for removing the last remnants of color.

To remove any last traces of the stain, an all-fabric bleach may be necessary.  (Remember to test for colorfastness).

•Bleach the entire garment following the manufacturer’s instructions, then launder as usual.
•Launder the items according to the care label instructions.  You may also add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the wash to boost your detergents cleaning capabilities.
•Check that the stain has been removed before drying.  The heat will set the stain.

If you don’t have the time or simply don’t want to try and remove the stain yourself, bring it in to our stain removal experts.  They have years and years of experience and an arsenal of stain fighting treatments.
