This week is the Nationally recognized “Small Business Week”. Our President declared April 29- May 5 as Small Business Week, stating, “Small businesses are at the heart of our Nation. Our country’s 30 million small businesses employ nearly 58 million Americans — 48 percent of the labor force. Each year, small businesses create two-out-of-three net new, private-sector jobs in the United States.” He added “This week, we celebrate all the entrepreneurs who have taken a risk to start and grow a small business. They are driven by a belief that they can do something better, smarter, and more efficient than what has been done before. They make our neighborhoods vibrant places to live and work. They invest in their neighbors and employ millions of Americans. When they succeed, we all succeed.”
After 33 years in the business, Classic Cleaners continues to be part of your neighborhood as a “Small Business” locally owned and operated. Many of our tenured employees have commented on the bonds and friendships they form with their customers and how they’ve been a part of much of their life events via conversations with them from week to week: Births, deaths, new jobs, marriages, graduations and so on.
Athough we continue to grow and currently have 20 retail locations, the culture is still tight knit with a total employee count around 112 individuals. This count includes our customer service representatives, delivery drivers, plant specialists and office personnel. This is a place where “everyone knows your name”.
This week we are recognizing National Small Business Week and thinking back to 1985 when our first location opened on 82nd street across from where Community Hospital North is currently located. We’ve continued to evolve and improve since that first day adding free delivery, Eco friendly cleaning, 24/7 service and our mobile app but we’re still a small business and grateful for the local support of our community.
Thank you to all our loyal customers!
